Just what are the Benefits of Submitting Articles to E-Zines

E-zine advertising is perhaps one of the most underused forms of promotion. It is a good idea to do your homework, before launching your viral marketing campaign. Article writing and publishing has become the latest buzz in the internet website marketing world. The name of the game as far as Internet marketing

If the buzz is to be believed, Sam's Club is now a search engine optimization company that is targeting the local search market aggressively. The fact is, this isn't something new; it's just recently come to the forefront. Sam's Club has partnered with a company called Innuity to offer a program that is primarily targeted at small businesses looking to get noticed in the local search results.

Many people are screaming that this is a "worthless" service - but I disagree. It's not worthless, but it also isn't close to the service a comprehensive search engine optimization company can offer. Let's take a closer look - with the caveat that I am assuming that the service listed on the Innuity page for LeadConnect is the same service being offered through Sam's Club (also called LeadConnect).

What They're Offering

For $25 a month for Sam's Club members (and $39.95 a month for non-members), you can sign up for the LeadConnect service from Innuity. You'll get access to a dashboard that you can update with all of the necessary details about your business - name, address, phone number, types of products you offer, and so on. Once you've completed your dashboard, Innuity will submit your site to various local search engines such as Yahoo! Local, YellowPages, Pricegrabber, Google Local, and more. Then, if you update your dashboard at any time, Innuity will update your information at all of those local search sites, just like any search engine optimization company being paid a retainer fee might.

Innuity also claims on its website that this program includes having them submit your website to the major search engines (not to be confused with the local ones). This part is largely window dressing, as any good search engine optimization company knows. The major engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc.) all find sites on their own, and "submitting" sites won't do anything to influence rankings.

My Opinion

If you don't have the time to do it manually and you don't have the budget to hire a search engine optimization company, paying $25 a month for a company to handle the submission to the local search sites isn't a terrible deal. The ongoing fee also makes sense if your business changes frequently, as again it will save you time from needing to update your listing on each local search engine each time you make a change.

The big question is what happens when you disengage from the service. Will your results remain on the local sites after you stop paying the monthly fee? Or will they be dropped the day you stop paying? In my opinion, it would be somewhat unethical for them to actively remove you from local search sites if you disengage, and I'm betting that they don't. I tried to reach them directly to ask but was unsuccessful (well, I called twice and was put on hold for an inordinate time in each instance without ever reaching a human being - you can draw your own conclusions from that).

Why This Is Good for the SEO Industry

Having a large, recognizable chain like Sam's Club acting as a "search engine optimization company" and offering this type of service has several benefits for the SEO industry. People in the SEO industry often forget that most people do not even know what SEO is, so this initiative is bringing awareness of the industry as a whole, even if it is focused on local search.

Additionally, the Sam's Club name gives SEO a bit of respectability. Search engine optimization has long been considered some voodoo science or, at best, a fringe discipline - but with this offering by a household name, it's now something that the average person might want to investigate. This may help the mainstream accept the idea of hiring a search engine optimization company in general.

Why This Could Be Problematic for the SEO Industry

The problem with this offering is that it is rather limited in scope, focused only on local search initiatives for local businesses. Because it is more common for people to use the general search engines over the local search engines, this may not bring in a large volume of new business. Yet at the same time, it is advertised in such a way as to seem to the average person as full-service search engine optimization. Nothing in the description online or in any of the literature I've gotten my hands on indicates that Innuity is letting people know that local search is just a part of a larger, more disciplined approach that another search engine optimization company might provide.

As a result, businesses that use LeadConnect rather than a search engine optimization company may find the results are not what they were hoping for. And they then may dismiss SEO in general because they don't understand that the LeadConnect service is limited. Local search is important, but there are many other ways to target a local market online that this service is not tapping into.

In addition, to see really great results from a local search initiative, your business must appear in the top few results in the local search engine - because those are the ones that will also appear on the main search results page. Any result beyond the top several will be more difficult for the average searcher to come by, whereas a first or second-page result on a main engine, which a full-service search engine optimization company might be able to garner, can be of great benefit to increasing exposure.

Conclusion

What Sam's Club is offering cannot directly compete with the services provided by a search engine optimization company - and it's not supposed to. This program is reasonable for a company with a small budget looking to boost its local exposure. Plus, it can bring the SEO concept to the masses. Unfortunately, it could also give people a false sense of what SEO is and what it can do for them. And it remains to be seen if people really want to buy an SEO package from the same vendor that sells them giant jars of mayo and bulk toilet paper.

Article Marketing on the Internet is a whole different story

Article Marketing on the Internet is a whole different story because of the way your articles reach humans who have an interest in them. Article Marketing will help you increase your link popularity, search engine positioning for your keywords and phrases, and it helps you reach more potential customers for your products or services.

A search engine is one of the main ways web users find websites and the main search engine is Google. A good listing on Google means you will have a large increase in traffic and that's when you can start looking at turning this traffic into sales.

Submitting to a search engine is easy but achieving high search engine ranking can be quiet difficult. High ranking is based on a number of factors but one of the most important is ensuring your pages are search engine optimized making them accessible to the search engines. So now lets look at

(1) What are Search Engines
(2) How do they work
(3) How the algorithm works
(4) Search engine tips

(1) What are Search Engines:

Search engines are Web sites that help you search the Internet for other Web sites based on keywords you provide e.g. the keyword is the word you type into the search box. These search engines then crawls the internet looking for websites with this keyword in it, returning a list of sites with the highest rankings. Search engines themselves are made up of a number of different parts Spider - crawls your website checking your links and the general standard and layout of your pages.

(2) How do they work:

Well as discussed above you type your keyword into the search and hit go or submit, the search engine then crawls the internet looking for websites with this keyword in it returning thousands of sites. The search might only display 10 or so of these sites because it has determined that these sites are the most relevant based on it's ranking system. Everybody wants to be in the top 10 because being in the next 10 could mean you loose visitor and more importantly potential customers - so let see how they work by looking at google.

Search engines are based on rankings, Google is typical example of this. After submitting your site too google the Google bot will visit your site rank it and then move to next sites. Every search engine uses its own unique formula, called an algorithm, to index and score web sites. Google employs a ranking algorithm to give your pages an overall ranking. In google you receive a ranking of between 1 and 10, where 1 is the lowest and 10 is the highest rank. To view what your current ranking is download the google ranking toolbar - install it and you will see a page rank box at the top of your browser - if the green bar is halfway across you have a ranking of about 5 which is very good. http://toolbar.google.com/

(3) How the algorithm works

The google algorithm work by giving points based on certain factors such as

Links from other web pages to your site

What that means is the amount of links listed on other sites that link to your site! The more sites that link to you, the greater your popularity! The key to this is to do as many link exchanges as possible. A link exchange is basically you provide a link to a website and they link to you - be sure that the site that's linking to you is relative to what you are providing on the site. Try to add as many of these as possible, the more links the higher the ranking.

Meta Tags:

META tags are special HTML tags, located in the heading of the page, giving additional information about the page. They are intended for search engines. The description tag is used to give a description of your site which will be displayed in the search results. The keywords tag contains a list of keywords, separate either by commas or by spaces, these are highly relevant because these same keyword are used by web users to search these search engines. These tags and other factors dictate your sites placement in the search engines. Good meta tags contain words that describe your website. The google Robots scans the text on your pages to match the words in the meta tags with actual web page content. They set parameter and your content must fall within this to get increased points from the googlebot.

HTML Titles:

Search engines assign greater importance to text in certain locations on your page. One of the most important locations is your page title (the one that appears at the top of your browser) Learningsteps.com Interactive training. So having a relevant title is very important. Search engines will also check to see if a key phrase appears near the top of the page, in its headline or in the first few lines of text e.g. in the body. So add your title to the body make sure its in bold. Search engines consider how often a particular phrase appears relative to the other words on the page, so try and re-use your keywords.

(4)Search engine tips:

(1) Join as many relevant link exchanges as possible - the more links to your site the higher your ranking. I shall be adding a link exchange program shortly.

(2) The title tag on your page should be relevant and re-used throughout the page - search engines check importance of keywords.

(3) Use relevant keyword again re-use these in the page and make them bold.

(4) Constantly add more content - the google bot loves that content is being updated and added.

(5) Spelling: yes incorrect spelling can result in pages not being found or lost.

(6) Page size: ensure your page size is small especially your main page as web visitors will not wait more than 10 seconds.

Hope this page helps - I will add more information as i go along - achieving high ranking is an ongoing battle.

Making Money with Your Blog!

A place for finding the Nuts and Bolts for Making Money Online with Affiliate Marketing Business Opportunity!

Within the HTML code behind your page, there are things called meta tags. These are short notes within the header of the code which describe some aspects of your page to the search engines. Although there is some debate over how important meta tags are when it comes to SEO, its generally agreed that they shouldnt be ignored.

Whether youre building your website yourself, or youre getting a web designer to do it, its a good idea to understand the basics. There are four main meta tags you need to consider:

    <li>Title</li></p><p align="justify"><li>Keywords</li></p><p align="justify"><li>Description</li></p><p align="justify"><li>Alt</li>

Following is a bit of discussion of how these meta tags should look and a few tips for writing them.

Title - e.g.

<title>Cheap second hand computers Widget Computers</title>

The title is the most important of the meta tags. Try to use your keyword at least once in the title, preferably towards the beginning. Also, its not just important for your ranking; it also has the biggest impact on your Click Thru Rate (CTR). The text you put in the title will appear as the link text in your Google listing the bit that people will read first and click on. Think of it as an ad headline the better it is, the more people will click on it.

TIP: Google only displays 66 characters in the clickable part of your listing. So try to keep your Title text to a max of 66 characters.
Keywords - e.g. <meta name="KEYWORDS" CONTENT="cheap second hand computers" />

Search engines used to look only at this tag to identify a sites subject material. This isn't really the case any more, but some search engines still give it quite a bit of weight (such as Yahoo). There are various 'rules' about how many characters you should include in this tag. The most recent I've been working to is 300 characters (including spaces). I've never been too strict about enforcing it though.

IMPORTANT: The most important detail about the Keywords tags is that Yahoo pays quite a bit of attention to it. If you do it wrong, you'll be penalized. I learned this the hard way. You need to ensure that your Keywords tag is aligned with your web copy. By that, I mean that you shouldn't include keywords that don't appear in your copywriting. And I'm not talking about arbitrary stuffing or spamming here. I'm talking about legit keywords. For instance, I used to use my suburb, Bateau Bay, as a keyword for every page of my site. However, "Bateau Bay" hardly appeared at all in my web copy. There were quite a few other examples like this, too, like my state (NSW), and some of my neighboring suburbs. After ranking really highly in Google for about a year, I couldn't understand why I was ranking so poorly in Yahoo. Turns out, this was the reason. I made the change, and my ranking shot up about 60 positions!!! And I don't mean from position 1000 to position 940 (that wouldn't be noteworthy at all). I mean I shot up from about 80 to about 20 (then gradually moved onto the first page).
Description - e.g. <meta name="DESCRIPTION" CONTENT="Cheap second hand computers for sale keeping your business running efficiently without breaking the bank." />

The search engines pay some attention to this text when identifying your sites subject material, so make sure you include your keyword at least once in the Description. Also, most search engines use this text as their description of your site (i.e. its the site snapshot that follows your link in the search results). Make sure its informative and compelling. Think of it as the copy for an ad.

TIP: Google only displays about 160 characters including spaces. So keep your Description text to a max of 160 characters.
Alt - e.g. <img xsrc="filename.gif" alt="Cheap second hand computer in use" title="Cheap second hand computer in use">

The Alt tag is designed to help visually impaired people use the World Wide Web (WWW). They use software to read out loud the content of your website. When the software encounters a picture, it looks for the Alt text to learn what the picture is, then reads that text out loud. The Alt tag is relatively important to search engines because they assume that your pictures have something to do with the subject material of your site. But like the visual aid software, they cant actually see the picture, so they look at the Alt text as well. Try to include your keyword at least once in your Alt text.

Summary

You can use the same meta tags on each page, or you can make them unique. It all depends on how many keywords youre targeting. If youre targeting a different keyword in the copy of each page, your meta tags for each page will be unique (i.e. youll target that pages keyword within these meta tags).

TIP: If you have any high ranking competitors, take a look at the way theyve done their meta tags, and follow their lead. You already know they rank highly, so chances are theyve done a good job.

Viral marketing is a methods of list building

That ten word ad could be a 300-500 word power-marketing tool that drives targeted traffic to your website with a sales pitch that not only grabs your readers attention but keeps them coming back for more... And more... And more. If you implement the process in just the right way, you may even get word of mouth referrals from your high-impact laser targeted ad copy articles.

1. Tell a story. Capture your audience with the creative writing you learned in high school Tell them a story about your product and how Cinderella succeeded in capturing the interest of her Prince Charming with your product.

2. Lead your audience to your website for more information. Leave off the ending of your tale and create the desire to know more by leaving a tag line that brings the reader to your website to get "the rest of the story".

3. Capture their interest before you admit you want to sell them something. Give them information that grabs their attention, sparks their curiosity, and drives them to your site, before you share the fact that you're selling merchandise or services they'll need.

4. Give them something of value in the article that brings them to your site, and welcome them with audacious guest rewards. When you give your reader incredible values, they come back often and bring friends because they want more. They'll buy from you, because you give them value.

5. Lead the reader with a question and while they're attempting to answer your question drive them to your website and share their solution with magnetically attractive product and service marketing that keeps them buying your "stuff".

Three Things You Must Do Before You Submit To Article Directories

To all writers and non-writers out there, now is the time to start digging up those creative writing skills. With modern communication technology comes the popularity of information-based marketing, which is one of the oldest and most effective techniques in getting targeted prospects to sites and converting them into buyers. Article marketing's popularity cannot be ignored these days. People from all parts of the globe are amazed with its effectiveness and simplicity of use. That is why, it is no wonder why most webmasters are using this method as their primary marketing arm.

1. Be desperate for attention. By this, I mean knowing all the elements that can potentially entice online users to read your articles. One of the best ways to do so is by using attention-grabbing titles that appeal to your target market. Learn how to trigger their emotions, pique their curiosity, or even apply exaggeration to get them to click on your articles.

2. Deliver quality, complete information. Nothing can make an article more impressive than filling it with relevant, detailed content because after all, online users are reading articles just to be informed. Carefully select all the information that play crucial roles in your topic and present them in a logical manner to promote better understanding.

3. Write more. In article marketing, the more articles you write and submit, the more quality inbound links you can obtain for your website. Strive to multiply the number of your articles by either writing content that you are very familiar with or writing short articles.

4. Use simple words. Remember, you are not writing for encyclopedias or running towards getting a Pulitzer award. In writing your articles, it is better that you focus your energy on making your readers understand your ideas than trying to impress them with the use of big words.

5. Your ideas should be related to your main topic. Avoid discussing ideas that are not related on your topic to avoid annoying your readers.

Are you apprehensive to use article marketing in promoting your products and website? Well, don't be! Technically, you have got nothing to lose in using this marketing tool as you don't need to spend a single dime. Just write quality articles and post them on submission sites and you are guaranteed to earn quality inbound links. See? You will not lose anything in fact, you'll be able to gain more rewarding benefits!

1. Attract and sustain the interest of your potential clients. Use striking titles to compel your readers to open your articles. Then, hold their interest by giving them equally striking introductory paragraph that contains all the information they are looking for. By doing so, you can compel your readers to read on until they reach your resource box.

2. Include keywords/key phrases on your articles. Online users usually search information with the help of search engines and search terms. Thus, it is important that you embed the most searched keywords on your articles so they will match relevant searches and boost their exposure online.

3. Consider appropriate keyword density. Loading your articles will keywords is such a smart idea but only if you know how much you should include in your content. Right now, the acceptable keyword density is 3% of the total article word count. Don't exceed this number if you don't want to be tagged as keyword spammer.

4. Widely publish your articles. If you want to easily boost the number of your quality inbound links, you can post your articles to all leading articles submission sites and directories. You can also offer them to bloggers or website owners that target the same niche. By doing this, you can maximize the exposure of your articles and connect to more online users.

If you are seriously thinking of using articles marketing to drive traffic to your site, pull up your search engine ranking, establish your expertise in your chosen field, and generate more income, you need to uncover these 5 intriguing methods so you can jumpstart your article marketing:

1. Make sure that you only submit original content. Copying somebody else's work in article marketing is a big no-no. This will not only tarnish your credibility online, but you will also be penalized by major search engines.

2. Target human emotions when writing your article. Instead of focusing your efforts on logical reasoning, touch your readers' emotions by pushing their buttons. How? If you are selling diet pills, focus on how weight gain affects the confidence and social life of your readers.

3. Keep your paragraphs shorter. Ideally, you should explain one idea on every paragraph. As a writer, you must be able to explain that idea in 4-5 sentences. You can easily do that by finding the most appropriate words to get your message across and eliminating fillers and fancy words to make your paragraph direct to the point and brief.

4. Provide your readers with useful information. Make sure that the content of your articles contain information that are highly relevant to your readers. If they are facing problems, be sure to offer solution. When you do this, online users will appreciate your writing and you will build a huge following in no time.

5. Make every word count. When you are using fillers and other unnecessary words on your articles, you are wasting your readers' precious time. To make your readers feel that you value their time, strike out words that do not help you in getting your message across.

Confusion about the difference between where you submit your articles versus how you submit your articles is one of the biggest mistakes most article marketers make.

Where you submit your articles is what most people think of when they think of article submission. I look at article submission a little bit differently. To me article submission is how you submit your articles. Where you submit them is a sub-set of article marketing, article distribution.

In my mind, how you submit your articles is much more important than where. Now you can submit your articles to the best article directories EzineArticles and the other highly-ranked ones and thats great. I want you to do this.

But if you dont submit them well, it doesnt matter because theyre not going to get picked up as much, or you can submit them to any article directory and submit them well.

Many people will rush through the article submission process just wanting to get it done. This is huge mistake. You have spent all this time researching and writing your article, and it will not get picked up and used as much than if you took the time to submit your article well.

One of the article submission tips that will get your article picked up more often to using keywords and benefits in your title. Start with your keywords and then be sure to mention the benefits of reading your article.

Master Plan To Earn Thousands Of Dollars With Only One Article A Day - Part 3

To make money with article marketing, you need to learn, register to directories and write and submit an article a day. To earn even more, you can get ghostwriters to help you.

Now let's see the last two parts of this article series.

5. Bio box

You need to add the right resource box. Pay attention because I got this wrong for almost two years. If you add a link without anchor text in your bio box, you will get more subscribers to your website.

Why? Because many visitors will not notice your link if it's an anchor text.

If you want to get higher search engine rankings for your website, you can still add a second link with an anchor text, nothing prevent you to do this. I choose this route and my site get top rankings. By the way, this is another secret to get traffic to your website.

6. Landing page

You want to send people to your landing page and not on your website general home page. In fact, the landing page strategy is similar to Google adwords quality score except that there is no slap. If you do this wrong, you will not earn all the money you deserve for your hard work.

And don't forget, even if your articles are ugly at the beginning, with practice you will become better and write a profit pulling article in under twenty minutes. I almost forgot to tell you what is the article directory that is better than all the other combined. It's ezinearticles directory.

Take this to the bank.

Making Money with Your Blog!

A place for finding the Nuts and Bolts for Making Money Online with Affiliate Marketing Business Opportunity!

In this article I would like to go over some interesting things that I discovered from search engine optimization using article marketing.

For the purpose of this experiment I set up two web sites. One is a blog and another a lead capture page with a blog as well in a directory on the domain.

Now what has really been interesting is the following. The first few months my sites had virtually no rankings on Google. After about five months I started to notice search engine traffic from Google. A few months later there was a lot more traffic.

Analyzing the links pointing towards my web site I discovered the following. I had a lot of links pointing from the major article directories that have a very good page rank. Also as more web sites published my articles I got a lot of one way links to my web site.

Basically my web sites were beginning to rank well because of all the links that I was getting. Before I was doing article marketing I was submitting to directories. This can be very costly, but is a very quick way to get links. You just need to be sure that you only submit to a few directories a month because if you submit to many directories at once Google may discount the links.

I also use to do reciprocal linking. This use to work before. Unfortunately with the changes in the Google algorithm this is no longer effective because Google is trying to combat spam.

The valuable lesson that I learnt from article marketing is that you only need to write a lot of articles and submit them to the major article directories to get good search engine rankings.

Are you really interested in driving massive traffic to your website?

This can lead to rapport and trust, which are two of the very good foundations of strong and fruitful business relationship.

One of the best ways to offer valuable information to your potential clients is by writing and distributing your articles online. You just need to write about topics that will stir the right kind of attention among your potential readers to easily compel them to check on your website. This process which is commonly referred to as article marketing, is currently the best marketing and traffic-generating tool that is being used by billions of webmaster across the globe.

Here are the 3 incredible secrets to grow your article marketing:

1. Target market. In writing your articles, you always need to keep your potential clients in mind to make sure that the information you include in your content are targeted to their needs and wants. If you can consistently satisfy the need of your readers for information, you can easily persuade them to support your products and services.

2. Search engines. You also need to consider the search engines the moment you decide to sink your teeth into this marketing tool to give your articles an edge and make them highly searchable online. Determine which keywords or keyphrases are commonly searched for by your target market and incorporate them on your content.

3. Publishing sites. To increase the chances of your articles being approved by leading publishers, make sure that they conform to the standards they have set. Read and understand their terms of service as this will empower you to create articles that will meet each of their requirements.

There are multiple methods of list building, and if you are just getting started, until you have gained mastery over one or two methods, it is advisable to use multiple methods of list building strategies. You’ll see every step of the process, no matter how small, in exacting detail so

In this article we are going to take a quick look at how you can optimize your article marketing efforts in such a way as to generate a veritable avalanche of traffic to your site, service or offer, and quick! If you find yourself on the proverbial fence as to what strategy you should start with when building your online empire, I do believe that you will find article marketing to be an efficient, elegant and expeditious avenue to accomplishing just that. Read on as I explain why!

Simply stated, if you want to build an enduring and viable online business, you need content. You need content for your OWN sites, as well as material on other sites leading their readers back to you. Why? It's quite simple. The one surefire path to establishing yourself as a thought leader in your niche is to have YOUR readers actively engaged in your own creativity when they visit your pages, as well having your Peers point to you as a source of good information in your industry as well. And there is no better way of establishing yourself as an eminently accessible leader than having your own writings syndicated across the web.

In my own business building efforts, I do the exact same thing. I identify the areas of expertise that I want to illuminate to the masses, choose keywords that appear often in the search engines for my field, and craft well written, entertaining and engaging articles that hopefully leave my readers wanting more. When these articles are submitted to various directories around the web, other people will pick up my content and republish it on their own blogs, sites and newsletters. In doing so, they are bound to keep my resource box intact, which effectively leads the reader back to a destination I designate to learn more about me, or a particular product I may be promoting on my site.

While many authors worry about having others republishing their content freely around the web, my view is actually quite the opposite. I look at those who republish my material as marketing partners, a little army of publishers willing to virally distribute my thoughts, feelings and inspirational ideas to places I would be unable to reach on my own. In a certain sense, my success is predicated on the willingness of others to reprint my content, which is a further incentive for me to make sure my best work is going out when I publish.

The other benefit to article marketing as a powerful driver in building your brand is it's FREE! While others may be at the mercy of pay per click pricing, algorithm fulgurations and other factors out of your control, when you create good content, you are working within the ever evolving spirit of the web, and that is something that will NEVER be out of fashion!
